BMW G29 Z4 B48 Eventuri Intake System
Suitable for the G29 Z4 2.0 B48 engine variant
The Z4 B48 Eventuri intake system was developed to provide less restrictive airflow to the turbocharger while keeping intake temperatures low. Heat and volume are the most important considerations when designing an intake system for turbocharged engines. In the Z4, the intake system is located next to the exhaust manifold, causing the engine bay to warm up quickly. High temperatures are detrimental to engine performance as the turbocharger must build boost using heated, less dense air. To keep intake air temperatures (IATs) as low as possible, a completely sealed intake is necessary. However, this results in a restriction with only one air duct for air intake. During development, we discovered an additional opening to the wheel arch and took advantage of this by adding a secondary air intake to our airbox.
Our fully sealed airbox is also equipped with a heat shield with a gold reflective coating, which minimizes radiative heat transfer from the exhaust manifold. To maximize volume, we made the airbox as large as possible, with a recess for any strut braces. The standard convoluted inlet tube has been replaced with a smooth carbon tube, which also has a larger internal volume with a starting internal diameter of 111mm (4.4″), which slopes smoothly to align nicely with the turbo inlet. The tube ensures smooth airflow from the filter to the turbo inlet. Finally, we use a custom high-flow dry filter that is ISO certified for filtration performance and has a larger filtration surface area than the standard filter.

Double Air Inlet Carbon Fiber Air Box
The air box is made of Prepreg Carbon Fiber and has two main purposes: to shield the filter from the heat in the engine compartment and at the same time provide a double cold air intake. Since the air box is located next to the exhaust manifold, it is essential that the filter is completely sealed. We designed the air box to enclose the filter and at the same time provide a large internal volume. The air intake tube is sealed with a laser-cut plate and rubber sealing strip, which prevents hot air from entering the air box. In addition, there is an additional heat protection shield on the side of the exhaust manifold, which effectively reduces heat transfer.
During development we discovered a secondary air intake, located between the wheel arch and chassis. This secondary air intake reduces restriction and allows the turbo to draw air from a larger area. We also added an internal fender skirt to deflect water away from the filter. This design is further optimized with an optional headlight duct for maximum cold airflow in racing applications.
Carbon Inlet Pipe
The stock intake tube has a flexible, convoluted section to allow for movement with the engine. However, this creates turbulence in the airflow, which is reduced with our smooth carbon tube, which has a larger internal diameter. Instead of the OEM intake tube, which has an internal diameter of 80.8mm (3.2"), our tube has an internal diameter of 109mm (4.3"), resulting in an 82% increase in cross section. The tube has a smooth taper towards the turbo inlet for the most laminar airflow possible. The tube includes CNC machined connections for the temperature sensor and breather valve adapter.
Custom Cone Filter
Our cone filter is made of non-woven mesh material, double layered and ISO tested to ensure filtration meets OEM standards. The filter is cleanable and stable at high temperatures, with urethane as the base material. The filter contains an internal flow guide that helps to converge the airflow and prevent stagnation in the center of the filter. The filter media has a significantly larger surface area than the standard panel filter.
