BMW F90 M5 V2 Eventuri Intake System

Acceleration Time : 60-130 mph reduced by 0.22 seconds
Maximum airflow per air box at 28″ H2O : Standard 620 CFM, Eventuri 736 CFM

The F90 M5 Eventuri intake system is the result of extensive real-world testing and airflow simulation. The new V2 version has been improved with sealed filter housings, which ensure a more stable intake air temperature (IAT), even when the car is stationary. The new shrouds, which seal the housings, together with our scoop and shield combination, ensure unobstructed airflow and maintain low IAT values through cold air replacement. Our large front air intakes direct cold air into the intake area, protecting the engine from heat absorption. Furthermore, our gold heat-reflecting shields feature integrated air guides that direct airflow to the filters. We've also increased the intake pipe surface area by over 30% compared to the standard intake, which provides less restriction for the turbos and reduces wastegate cycles.

The Eventuri Difference
The Eventuri F90 M5 system uses our patented carbon fibre housings with bespoke generation 2 filters, which ensure aerodynamically efficient airflow from the filter to the turbos. This is no ordinary cone filter with a heat shield, but a unique design that utilises the Venturi effect and maintains laminar airflow to reduce drag on the turbo.

The Eventuri F90 M5 Intake consists of the following parts:

  • 2 x Carbon Fiber Venturi Housings with integrated tubes
  • 2 x Custom High Flow Generation 2 Filters
  • 2 x Carbon Fiber Filter Shrouds
  • 2 x Aluminum Inlet Cowls
  • 2 x Carbon Fiber Air Scoops
  • 2 x Laser Cut Heat Shields, coated with gold heat reflective material
  • 2 x Laser Cut Air Ramps integrated into the Heat Shields
  • High quality silicone couplers and OEM specification hose clamps

Intake Housing Assembly

The filter housings consist of our custom made generation 2 filters, aluminum intake cowls, carbon shrouds, the carbon pods and integrated tubing. The carbon pods encase the reverse mounted filters and direct airflow to the turbo inlet tubes. This is a key design feature where we have removed the need for a convolute rubber hose between the airbox and the turbo inlet tubes. The housings and integrated tubing move as one unit with the engine via the strut braces, eliminating additional interfaces that would disrupt the airflow. The result is smoother airflow from the filter to the turbos and reduced drag on the turbos.

Internal Volumes

Another key feature of the design is the internal volume of the tubes that pass through the strut braces. We increased the internal surface area at this transition by 31%, which allows for more available volume for the turbos to suck air through and therefore less restriction.

Patented Technology

Our patented filter housings have a smooth decrease in cross-section as they envelop the filters and slope down into the tubes. This design takes advantage of the Venturi effect , where the airflow accelerates while maintaining laminar conditions. This can be thought of as a large velocity stack, which increases the efficiency of the airflow and optimizes the performance of the turbos.

Carbon Shrouds

These carbon fiber shrouds are a recent addition to this intake system. They seal off the openings for the filter housings from the engine bay, while still allowing air to flow to the filters via the front scoops. The shrouds follow the design curves of the housings and extend to the inside of the wheel arches, where a rubber seal allows the intakes to flex as the engine moves.

Heat Shields and Air Ramps

The filter housings sit atop laser-cut heat shields, which are coated with a gold, heat-reflective coating to reduce radiant heat transfer. These shields create a sealed space in front of the filter openings, directing cool air from the scoops to the filters. Integrated air deflectors in the shields direct airflow from the scoops upward toward the filters, pushing warm air out of the engine bay.

Front Scoops

The final carbon components in this system are the front scoops , which are essential for efficiently directing ambient air towards the filters. The scoops are designed to direct airflow towards the air intake openings as effectively as possible, with a streamlined design that prevents turbulence.

With this intake system, the BMW F90 M5 will experience a huge performance boost due to the reduction in drag and the addition of an unmistakably grittier sound experience, taking the driving experience to the next level.
